Holistic Healing for Women of Color

Holistic Healing for Women of Color

Join us for a FREE dinner on Monday, December 3rd at the UVM Women’s Center (34 South Williams Street) from 6-8pm.
This will be the first of hopefully many gatherings throughout the remainder of the academic year for women of color to gather and explore holistic healing.
The meal will be a healing meal made with love and Local ingredients.
Come with ideas for future gatherings of topics in holistic health that your are interested in exploring.
This group is being organized by UVM senior Caitlyn Meeks with advising support from UVM Staff member Candace Taylor.

To make sure we have enough food, please RSVP to Caitlyn at cweeks@uvm.edu by Friday, November 30th in time for us to purchase the food.
** Interested in the group but can’t make this meal? Send Caitlyn an email to keep your name on a list for future gatherings.**

One Billion Rising @ UVM

1 Billion Rising LOGO

We are Calling on All of Our Friends, Colleagues, Neighbors, Students, Community Members to engage in this powerful global movement for social change. V-DAY.org has initiated this ONE BILLION RISING Campaign to raise awareness and ultimately end violence against women across the globe.

At UVM, the Women’s Center is going to be working together with folks in our community to organize a Rising on campus on February 14th, 2013 at 12pm in the UVM Davis Center Atrium and Bailey-Howe/Davis Center GREEN.  We are asking those that will join us in the global movement to wear red and/or pink and come together to dance and move in whatever way your body is inspired to to show our commitment, our support, and share our resilience and strength.

NOT in the Burlington VT area?  DON’T WORRY because  YOU CAN STILL BE INVOLVED! If you are here locally, consider coming to UVM’s Rising. If you are not local there are Risings sponsored all over the globe. Visit vday.org or look up #1billionrising  to find an event near you OR consider planning one of your own.

At bare minimum all you have to do is show up and dance. Interested in getting involved in more ways than that email women@uvm.edu or comment on this post and we will be offering many ways to be involved and to collaborate in making this one of the biggest and most empowering events our community and ultimately our world has ever seen!

Let’s RISE TOGETHER!

On V-Day’s 15th Anniversary, 2.14.13, we are inviting ONE BILLION women and those who love them to WALK OUT, DANCE, RISE UP, and DEMAND an end to this violence. ONE BILLION RISING will move the earth, activating women and men across every country. V-Day wants the world to see our collective strength, our numbers, our solidarity across borders.

What does ONE BILLION look like? On February 14th, 2013, it will look like a REVOLUTION.

ONE BILLION RISING IS:

A global strike
An invitation to dance
A call to men and women to refuse to participate in the status quo until rape and rape culture ends
An act of solidarity, demonstrating to women the commonality of their struggles and their power in numbers
